Tiffany Atkinson

‘What can I say? Poetry and Embarrassment’

Join us for this annual literature flagship event presenting a talk by award winning poet and professor of Creative Writing, Tiffany Atkinson.

Atkinson will explore some new thoughts about lyric poetry and embarrassment, drawing on a range of poets as well as some of her current work. Part reflection on practice, part literary examination of the theme, this talk will be of interest to writers and readers of poetry alike.

Tiffany Atkinson is Professor of Creative Writing: Poetry at the University of East Anglia. Her poems are published widely in journals and anthologies. Atkinson’s first collection, Kink and Particle (Seren, 2006) was a ‘Poetry Book Society Recommendation’, and winner of the ‘Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Prize’. Her second, Catulla et al (Bloodaxe, 2011) was one of the TLS Books of the Year, and her third collection, So Many Moving Parts, (Bloodaxe 2014) was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and winner of the Roland Mathias Poetry Prize. Her forthcoming collection, Dolorimeter, explores medicine and experiences of healthcare, and was winner of the inaugural Medicine Unboxed Creative Prize. Tiffany gives regular readings and workshops across the UK and internationally, and her work has been translated into Spanish, Italian and Bengali.
