The School of Health Sciences at the University of Surrey, is delighted to announce it will be supporting the work of the World Federation for Mental Health by hosting a panel discussion on the eve of World Mental Health Day 2017.

Dr Melaine Coward, Professor Ruby Wax and other VIP guests will discuss how we can combat the stigma around mental health and break down the barriers that hamper individuals and their families from seeking help.

In 2017, one in four adults in the UK will experience a mental health related problem that will impact their personal and professional lives, however only a quarter of these people will seek support to manage these problems.

Ranked as number one in England for Nursing (Complete University Guide 2018), the School of Health Sciences is committed to playing a leading role in meeting these healthcare challenges. As Dr Melaine Coward, Head of School comments: “Being responsible for the education of both the future and current workforce is a social duty for the School. I am proud that the School of Health Sciences is able to ensure the quality of staff caring for those with mental health problems.”
