Description

Grad Sport returns to Surrey Sports Park on Saturday, May 17, 2025. This annual gathering unites Surrey Alumni and current students in a celebration of sports at Surrey, contributing essential funds to support Team Surrey Clubs. The day-long tournament spans various sports, as student clubs compete against alumni teams for the coveted title of 'Grad Sport Champions.'

Alumni team members: £7 match fee (includes £2 donation to Forever Surrey Fund, supporting student clubs). Student team members: £2 match fee. Please specify your sport when registering for Grad Sport 2025, please only choose one sport. Your details will be shared with the team captain, and more event information will follow.

Location: Surrey Sports Park

Venue Details: Surrey Sports Park is based in Guildford, in the South East of England. Situated close to the Guildford mainline train station and within a short walk of the town centre, Surrey Sports Park is located across the A3, near the Royal Surrey County Hospital. By Train Guildford is on the main line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth. Half-hourly train services run from Guildford to Waterloo, with journey times of 40 minutes. For further information, call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950. From the railway station Walking: Leave station by footbridge and rear exit. Turn right from the station along Guildford Park Road and continue along Madrid Road and The Chase for a mile. Follow the path past the Guildford Cathedral to the main University of Surrey campus entrance. At the entrance turn left through the woodland area and follow the path through two underpass tunnels until you reach Tescos. Follow the main road around left (Egerton Road) until the mini-roundabout at the entrance of the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The entrance to Surrey Sports Park should be visible on the left-hand side via Richard Meyjes Road. (20-25 mins) Bus: ARRIVA buses (leave station by footbridge and rear exit, cross main road to bus stop) operate a regular service to Egerton Road and the Royal Surrey County Hospital which are both a few minutes walk to Surrey Sports Park. Services 3, 4, 5, 26, 27, 36 and 37 run approximately every ten minutes during the day. The earliest service is at approximately 6am and the last bus is just before midnight. On Sundays there is a reduced service. For further information, call Traveline on 0870 608 2608. Taxi: From main (eastern) exit. By Air Guildford is conveniently placed for both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Via London Airport (Heathrow) Rail-air link coaches leave Terminal 2 for Woking railway station from 6.30am to 10.50pm, picking up from Terminals 3, 1 and 4. Between 6.35am and 8.30pm they run approximately every half an hour, otherwise it is an hourly service. Journey time to Woking is one hour. There are frequent trains from Woking to Guildford. Via London Airport (Gatwick) Gatwick station is positioned in the South Terminal of the airport and provides direct rail-air link trains to Guildford hourly between approximately 5.15am (6am on Sundays) and 11pm. By Coach National Express coach number SH030 runs services to and from the Egerton Road/Tesco stop (a short walk from Surrey Sports Park). For further information, call 08705 808080. By Car Guildford is 30 miles south-west of London, on the A3 London-Portsmouth road. If approaching from London or the M25 (Junction 10), remain on the bypass (A3) until you reach the exit signed to the Cathedral and University. At the roundabout take the third exit signposted Royal Surrey County Hospital and University, Manor Park. Simply follow the signs to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for approximately a mile, and approach the Varsity Centre on the left. Take the first exit on the mini-roundabout at the entrance of the hospital, signposted Richard Meyjes Road, which leads to the entrance of Surrey Sports Park. If approaching on the A322 or A323 from Bagshot or Aldershot, at the A3 roundabout take the exit signed to Portsmouth, and then turn off the A3 at the first exit (signed to the Cathedral and University). At the roundabout take the third exit signposted Royal Surrey County Hospital and University, Manor Park. Simply follow the signs to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for approximately a mile, and approach the Varsity Centre on the left. Take the first exit on the mini-roundabout at the entrance of the hospital, signposted Richard Meyjes Road, which leads to the entrance of Surrey Sports Park. If entering Guildford from Horsham (A281) or Godalming (A3100), leave the central gyratory system at the exit signed for Farnham (A31). After approximately 200 yards, at the mini-roundabout, take the first turning right into Guildford Park Road, and continue along Madrid Road and The Chase for a mile. At the next roundabout, take the first exit and follow the signs to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for approximately a mile. Take the first exit on the mini-roundabout at the entrance of the hospital, signposted Richard Meyjes Road, which leads to the entrance of Surrey Sports Park. Car Parking Prior to open visitors may park in Varsity Centre car park when visiting the Surrey Sports Park or the Surrey Sports Park Marketing Suite. Visitors should report to the Varsity Centre and issued with a visitor parking permit before returning to meet with Surrey Sports Park staff. If you intend to visit after 5pm on weekdays or any time at weekends, please note that a visitor parking permit is still required. Upon opening visitors to Surrey Sports Park will be able to use free on-site car parking at the entrance of the facility.

If such a situation arises, you will be promptly informed about available refund options. It's important to note that for alumni tickets, the £2 donation to the Forever Surrey Fund, integrated into the ticket price, is non-refundable.

University of Surrey and Surrey Sports Park reserve the right to refuse any participants entry based on previous circumstances.

Participants acknowledge and accept that they fully understand the inherent risks involved in participating in the event. By participating, they confirm that they are in good physical condition and capable of safely engaging in the activities.
The University of Surrey and Surrey Sports Park shall not be held liable for any injuries, health issues, or other incidents that may occur during or as a result of participation in the event.
Participants with pre-existing medical conditions, those taking medication, or those with a history of medical issues are strongly advised to consult a medical professional before taking part. By proceeding, participants accept full responsibility for their own health and safety. There will be a first aider onsite throughout the course of the event

Team Participation

General Eligibility:

· University of Surrey and Surrey Sports Park reserve the right to refuse any participants entry based on previous circumstances.

Eligibility for Alumni Teams
You may participate on an alumni team if:

You are a graduate of the University of Surrey (holding either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree).
You were a member of Team Surrey during your studies.
You graduated from Surrey, were previously in Team Surrey as an undergraduate, and are now a postgraduate student not currently playing for Team Surrey.

Ineligible for Alumni Teams
Alumni teams cannot include:

Individuals who did not graduate from the University of Surrey.

Eligibility for Student Teams
Student teams may include:

Current students who are members of Team Surrey and have paid the membership fee.

Ineligible for Student Teams
Student teams cannot include:

Current students (undergraduate or postgraduate) who have not paid the Team Surrey membership fee.

Fee Payments:

· All alumni players (even if you’re a current PG student), must pay the alumni ticket fee

Photography and Filming:

Please note that photography and filming will take place throughout the event. The images and footage captured may be used by the University of Surrey and Surrey Sports Park for promotional purposes. By attending, you consent to being photographed and filmed. If you would prefer not to appear in any photos or videos, kindly inform the photographers and videographers on the day.
