Detailed Description
This DVD celebrates the life and work of Madge Atkinson and her Natural Movement technique. It provides an insight into this early British modern dance form through oral recollections, academic interpretation, five dance reconstructions from the Natural Movement professional repertoire and education work by Jean Kelly, and original images from the Natural Movement Archive held at the NRCD. It also includes a printed booklet and downloadable PDF providing further information.
The DVD has been produced as part of the Pioneer Women: early British modern dancers project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), a collaborative project between the NRCD and University of Surrey’s Department of Dance, Film and Theatre. The film was made by Becky Edmunds and Simon Ellis.
