Active Futures: Co-Creating Health and Justice Outcomes Through Youth Clubs and Sport

Active Futures: Co-Creating Health and Justice Outcomes Through Youth Clubs and Sport

Description

Join us for a full‑day workshop exploring how sport‑based positive youth development (PYD) programmes can improve health and support desistance from crime among young people from marginalised communities. Drawing on Dr Hammond’s Levelling the Playing Field research with the Alliance of Sport in Criminal Justice and partnerships across Youth Justice and the sport‑for‑development sector, the event brings together young co‑researchers, academics, practitioners and statutory services to share evidence, lived experience and practical insights.

The day includes speaker perspectives on effective engagement approaches, wellbeing outcomes and pathways away from crime, followed by youth‑led agenda‑setting discussions to shape future research and practice.

A follow‑up webinar will also be held to share workshop findings and gather wider feedback from stakeholders unable to attend in person, offering an opportunity to help shape a collaborative research and impact agenda for sport‑based PYD programmes to improve health and support desistance from crime.
