Wolpertinger: over 40 years on:

Wolpertinger is the annual conference organised by the Wolpertinger Club (the European Association of University Teachers of Banking and Finance) which is an association of university academics with a shared interest in the economics and management of financial institutions and financial systems.

Wolpertinger was founded over 40 years ago by a group of professors to discuss their research, exchange their ideas and develop ways to co-operate in the research and teaching of banking, financial institutions and the economics of financial systems. Wolpertinger’s ethos of nurturing, sharing and collaborating, explains why established academics and aspiring doctoral candidates regularly attend its annual conference.

Outline of the Conference:

The main objective of the Wolpertinger conference is to present and discuss theoretical and empirical research, policy issues and contemporary developments in banking, financial intermediation and other related topics in the broad field of finance.

We are offering early bird fees up until 7 July 2025.

Drinks reception - Wednesday 27 August 2025, from 5.30pm

Main conference – Thursday 28 and Fri 29 August 2025

BBQ Evening – Thursday 28 August

Gala Dinner – Friday 29 August

Possible local excursion – Saturday 30 August 2025 (subject to numbers attending)

PARKING

There will be some parking available on the main campus. Please make sure to select the relevant box on the booking form if you require a parking space. A link will be sent in your welcome email, to register your vehicle’s registration number. Please be sure to register your vehicle PRIOR to arriving on campus, to avoid any parking charges.

CONFERENCE DINNER

The Conference Gala dinner will be held at Gorse Hill, a beautiful Country House Hotel set in the gorgeous Surrey countryside, close to Guildford, in Woking. Please remember to mark your dietary requirements on the booking form.

PAYMENT

We would strongly encourage you to pay by card. There will be an option to pay by BACS transfer, for which we will issue you with an invoice. In order for us to do this, you will be required to provide information for the invoice. Please have this information ready at the time of booking.
