Additional ItemsMore InformationStudents from the University of Surrey will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Giant Grass 2025 in Brazil, hosted by the University of São Paulo's Polytechnic School and the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering in Pirassununga. This hands-on workshop will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the bamboo life cycle, exploring everything from plant ecology and rainforest management to advanced construction techniques. Topics will include bamboo’s taxonomy, cultivation, harvesting, processing into engineered products, and sustainable applications in construction, covering both structural design and end-of-life recycling.
The first week will feature introductory workshops in São Paulo, while the following two weeks will involve immersive activity in Pirassununga. Here, students will actively engage in building and testing bamboo materials, gaining practical experience in the field. The final week in Belém, hosted by the Rural Federal University of the Amazon (UFRA), will provide an extraordinary opportunity to join discussions leading up to COP30, which will take place in Pará later in 2025.
